Objective: Nearly 90% of the population experience at least one type of traumatic event throughout their lives. As women’s health providers we know that >25% of our patient population have experienced some type of negative sexual experience, intimate partner violence, and that nearly 50% of birthing people report having a traumatic birth. Trauma-informed care should be interlaced throughout our undergraduate medical education, but recent reports demonstrate a large gap in medical student understanding of ACE’s, trauma, and how to incorporate a trauma-informed approach into the clerkship. This workshop is an innovative integration of the principles of Health System Science as it is related to trauma-informed care and will give tangible action steps to academic professionals. This workshop will teach providers how to go from trauma-aware to trauma-informed and focus on creating opportunities to incorporate T.I.M.E into their current curriculum.

Conclusion/ Discussion: The pervasiveness of medical distrust is growing at an insurmountable pace. The incorporation of health systems science and trauma-informed care into medical education is a way to build back trust in our medical system and is a necessary change to dismantling systemic racism. T.I.M.E will give the students the tools they need to be inclusive and deliver more equitable care. Workshop participants will feel more confident in their ability to practice trauma-informed care and be able to develop a trauma-informed curriculum within the clerkship.
