There are a variety of reasons for this phenomena but one of the prime reasons is due to the increased number of graduates because of increased enrollment at medical schools and also due to the establishment of new medical schools. However there has been no significant concomitant increase in GME positions. Properly advising these students is of extreme importance. Issues including financial debt, loss of self-esteem must also be considered when advising these students.
