Getting the Un-Matched Student up to Escape Velocity to Match

Objective: For the past 3-4 years, there is an increasing number of students who have not matched.  There are a variety of reasons for this phenomena but one of the prime reasons is due to the increased number of graduates because of increased enrollment at medical schools and also due to the establishment of new medical schools.  However there has been no significant concomitant increase in GME positions.  Properly advising these students is of extreme importance.  Issues including financial debt, loss of self-esteem must also be considered when advising these students.  During the session, a step-by-step framework will be presented to methodically and logically enable a student increase the chance of matching in the subsequent year.   Also the student’s own wellness and social support will be considered during the presentation.
