Polishing Your Golden Laparoscope: Laparoscopic Videography Success In & Out of the OR
Objective: Gynecological surgical experiences have become increasingly difficulty for residents to obtain due to decreased overall surgical numbers, work hours restrictions, and the currently state of social distancing, and conservation of personal protective equipment.
Faculty must adapt to these change and optimize the intra operative educational opportunities by utilizing effective and efficient video editing to educate residents outside the operation room.
Workshop Agenda: • Discuss the necessity of high-quality surgical videography in gynecological surgerical education
• Discuss the advantage of surgical videography education
• Discuss the proper consenting procedure
• Demonstrate tips and tricks for surgical videography
° In of the OR
° How to record on the Stryker Box (MP4 vs. MPEG)
° Tips optimization for post processing editing
° Out of the OR
• iMovie/Final Cut Pro
° Basic outline and orientation
° Color Adjustment
° Anatomy highlight overlay
° Zooming
° Insertion of titles/labels
° Transitions
° Picture in picture/Split Screen
° Shape insertion
° Speed Ramping and Speed Adjustment
° Recording Voiceover
Interactive Component: Each participant will be expected to bring their own laptop with iMovie or Final Cut Pro installed. A short stock clip of a surgical video will be provided which will be edited from start to finish as a group.
Take Home Product: A fully edited surgical video clip will be taken home. The final video clip will have color adjustment, several anatomical highlights overlay, a basic zoom, structure label insertions, transitions, shape insertions, speed adjustment, and voice over.
