We didn’t want to let September come to a close without paying tribute to the extraordinary women in medicine that are part of the APGO membership, the field of academic ob-gyn, and health care as a whole. We are proud to celebrate Women in Medicine month this September, and, through our mission, promise to support and nurture the careers of women in ob-gyn medical education every month of the year as well. We recognize the importance of supporting women in medicine, and acknowledge the hard work, resilience, and bravery required to reach this significant achievement and serve the community, especially in today’s uncertain world. It is our mission to provide our members with the resources and support to teach tomorrow’s ob-gyns and health care providers, and we are committed to fostering the careers of women to promote equal representation in future generations of physicians. Women in Medicine Month is a not only a wonderful celebration of women in the profession. The month-long observance also raises awareness for gender inequities that continue to plague women in the medical field. Together with our members, we will continue to advocate for gender equity and work to combat gender-based disparities and harassment in academic medicine. APGO is also vigilantly focused on addressing health care disparities and social determinants of health within the health care system, and are committed to empowering our members to improve the quality of life for all patients.APGO salutes Women in Medicine, today and every day.
