Objective: Creative solutions are needed to address the cumbersome, stressful and inefficient residency application process. The APGO Right Resident, Right Program, Ready Day One grant team is working with the AAMC to develop a preference signaling program for students to communicate their strong interest in their top programs in the upcoming cycle.
Students and faculty need to understand whether to participate and how to prepare. This session will focus on discussing the background and data on preference signaling from other specialties and best practice guidance for rollout to OBGYN.

Case discussions: Using three different student profiles, participants will work in small groups to consider how to advise each applicant on preference signaling, and how to prepare
Results: Report out/large group discussion: Each group will share the results of their discussions about applicants and participants will take part in a facilitated group discussion of the key considerations in advising students for preference signaling pilot. (30 minutes)
Conclusion/ Discussion: Take-home product
A checklist of “best practices” for preference signaling will be created for participants, including pre-selected information as well as conclusions drawn from the experience of the workshop.
