Satisfaction with National Remote OBGYN Resident Didactics and Intentions for Future Use

Purpose: To assess participant and program director satisfaction with National Remote OBGYN Resident Didactics

Background:
Given the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic, National Remote OBGYN Resident Didactics were launched in April 2020 to pool resources and expertise.  Live lectures were delivered virtually, and lectures were recorded and made available for asynchronous viewing.

Methods: Viewership of live and recorded lectures was tallied.  Data were collected from voluntary anonymous surveys of participants and program directors.  Survey participants were asked to rate their satisfaction with National Didactics and their intentions for future use.  We used descriptive statistics for analysis.

Results: The average number of participants in the live lectures was 210 (range 34-552) and the average number of recorded views for each lecture was 2650 (range 546-9889).  A total of 403 individuals completed the participant survey (of which 89% were residents) while 53 program directors completed the residency directors’ survey.  Amongst participants, 98% reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the overall quality of the didactics, 81% reported that National Didactics were superior to didactics offered at their home institution, and 97% indicated they were likely or very likely to utilize recorded lectures in the future.  Among program directors who viewed the didactics, 88% reported being very satisfied, and 87% indicated they would use recorded lectures in the future.

Discussions: There was high utilization of the recorded lectures of the National Remote Didactics. Both participants and program directors reported high level of satisfaction and intention to use in the future, demonstrating broad support for a national OBGYN curriculum.
