As we celebrate your passion for women’s health education this #GivingTuesday, we’re asking you to share your med ed superpower. What is your strength in academic medicine? What inspires you and keeps you going? Whether you rally around physician well-being, have a low-fi simulation hobby, schedule scholarship into your day or know the best life hacks for busy physicians, we want to hear from you. Tells us your med ed superpower on Twitter or Instagram using hashtag #myAPGOsuperpower and you might win an APGO swag bag to share with your colleagues and students.
DEADLINE APPROACHING: DONNA WACHTER CLERKSHIP ADMINISTRATOR AWARD The new Donna Wachter Clerkship Administrator Award acknowledges excellence in the position of Ob-Gyn Clerkship Coordinator, and is designed to recognize an outstanding Ob-Gyn Clerkship Coordinator as nominated by the Department Chair.
The Clerkship Coordinator is an essential member of the ob-gyn clerkship team. Exemplary coordinators possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to problem solve discretely and diplomatically. Commendable coordinators work well independently but know when to seek direction from supervisors and faculty. The Ob-Gyn Clerkship Coordinator exemplifies the institutions’ mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with its policies and procedures.

Fitness Fiesta Fundraiser
After a full day of expanding our minds at the Faculty Development Center, let’s turn our attention to our well-being. Join us for a fitness conditioning class for all ages, levels and abilities, led by the founders of Beyond Motion® (go2beyondmotion.com), Rick and Amy Lademann. After, the fiesta continues with networking, music, light hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and our famous APGO raffles. Plus, don’t miss the chance to dunk APGO leaders and staff to raise money for the APGO Medical Education Endowment Fund.
Susan M. Cox, MD, Clerkship Directors’ School 101 & 201
Are you a new clerkship director, or interested in improving your program? Join your fellow clerkship directors and APGO leaders for the APGO Susan M. Cox, MD, Clerkship Directors’ School, 101 & 201, on Saturday, January 11, 2020, before the start of the FDS program. The course includes large group discussions of high-yield topics, small group discussions for more personalized advice, plus the interactive Innovation Station session to introduce participants to low-fidelity simulations, aids and handy tools that can be implemented in the clerkship.
APGO TASK FORCE ON EUA PUBLISHED IN GREEN JOURNAL Earlier this year, APGO released a statement on teaching pelvic exams to medical students, which was supported by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), and endorsed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG), and the American Urogynecologic Society.
Building on this, the task force that drafted the statement has now authored a paper, “Consent for the Pelvic Examination Under Anesthesia by Medical Students: Recommendations by the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics” which has been published in the Green Journal and is available as an Open Access article.
SUBMIT A PLENARY PROPOSAL Do you have an idea for a plenary talk that would benefit the APGO membership? The 2021 Martin L. Stone, MD, Faculty Development Seminar might just be your chance! In the spirit of elevating scholarship opportunities for APGO members, for the first time, APGO’s Undergraduate Medical Education Committee is extending an invitation to APGO members to submit a proposal to for a 50-minute plenary session at the 2021 meeting.
