WELCOME NEW APGO EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MOLLY GEORGAKIS, CAE
Molly Georgakis, CAE, started her position as APGO Executive Director on October 30. She comes to APGO after serving as Vice President, Member Services/COO for the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), and has worked in member services, education, fundraising, governance, and marketing for a number of nonprofit organizations and associations for more than 20 years.

A Message from APGO Executive Director Molly Georgakis, CAE
I am extremely honored to be joining the incredible APGO community and am motivated by the opportunity to support our vision to be the global leader for improving women’s health through education. In the short time that I have been in the Executive Director position, APGO has exceeded my expectations in every way. From the clear commitment of the volunteer leaders to the deep knowledge and long tenure of the staff, I’ve been very impressed. I am fortunate to be following in the footsteps of Donna Wachter, who has been instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition. The APGO staff has been gracious in helping me to get up to speed, while ensuring continued service to members amidst a great deal of change.

While there is a lot to learn about the organization and the members we serve, I’m hopeful that the experience gained in more than 20 years of working in nonprofits, primarily in associations and professional societies, will prove valuable as we work to take APGO into the future. I’m looking forward to building on our strong foundation of programs and services and to continuing to enhance the value of membership.

I hope to meet many of you at the 2019 APGO Martin L. Stone, MD, Faculty Development Seminar in January, and the CREOG & APGO Annual Meeting in February. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me at any time at mgeorgakis@apgo.org or 410-451-9569.

NEW FREE RESOURCE: BASIC SCIENCE VIDEOS WITH COMPANION TEACHING SCRIPTS
APGO is pleased to announce the launch of a new teaching tool! In July 2017, APGO awarded two educational grants of $50,000 each to APGO member institutions to develop a series of short videos and teaching scripts covering basic science topics to vertically integrate into the obstetrics and gynecology clerkship. Each project team developed 15 videos with a companion teaching script for each video.

These 30 videos and scripts provide a nice resource for basic sciences teaching as medical schools transition to earlier introduction to clinical training and competency-based curricula. Basic sciences remain critical to clinical medicine and should be taught across the entire medical education experience. Vertical integration between the basic sciences and clinical medicine during the ob-gyn clerkship will stimulate deeper learning and solidify students’ understanding of fundamental principles.

Start using the videos and scripts today!
