Are You a Gamer? Join APGO in the Med Ed Olympics

Recently, one of our members tweeted us a photo of students competing in “Laparoscopy Olympics.” Doctor Christopher Morosky of UCONN shared a photo of his clerkship students standing at laparoscopy terminals engaged in a simulation competition. With the Rio Olympics this summer and the recent rise in popularity of gamification in medical education, it got us thinking: how do our other members use friendly and fun competition to engage learners at their institutions?

In the spirit of the Olympics, we invite you to help us create a compilation of games for the Med Ed Olympics. Tweet us at @APGOnews using hashtag #MedEdOlympics and tell us how your students learn through games. (Photos are especially encouraged!) We’ll compile the submissions into a “link up” blog article, where you can click through links submitted by our membership and find ideas for games to implement in your program.

Whether it’s a Jeopardy-format trivia game or clerkship-long rewards program, we want to know how your students are learning through games. We look forward to seeing and sharing your ideas!
