Objective/ Background: During the round table we will discuss how leveraging your training networks can help prevent burnout whether you establish regular check-ins, build these relationships into your work life by meeting regularly at annual conferences, for example or are simply part of a group text thread. Whatever the method or frequency, we will review the types of items that can be discussed and other ways these networks can help you flourish.
Methods: 1. Co-residents or physicians in practices from your past know your capability and have your best interests at heart. 2, People that know you that deeply can provide support when things go wrong without judgement or in the event of a case that could go to court, without being subpoenaed assuming they are at different institutions. 3. These training and early practice friendships can be maintained while obtaining CME at the relevant conferences, or on regular check in calls. 4. You can share details about wrvus, contracts and salaries without flouting institutional rules or worrying about competition within your current department. 5. If you are all in academic practice, you can help each other\'s careers with grand round invitations, co-authoring papers and helping edit important emails.
Results: 1. Brief summary of the backgrounds of both speakers and our how our relationship developed. (3 min) 2. Introductions including relevant clinical and non-clinical background, clinical and educational interests and roles and geographic location of all table participants and what motivated attendance at this round table. (7 min) 3. Review roles and types of connections that are optimal for this type of networking to prevent burnout and to help promote your career. (10 min) 4. Identify information currently shared by participants within their networks and with whom they are sharing. (10 min) 5. Review types of information can be shared with your network to prevent burnout and to help with participants’ careers (10 min) 6. Discuss optimal frequency, ways of connecting and ways to make the meetings cost effective and career promoting.(10 min) 7. Brainstorm as a table then individually identify three times during the year when participants will leverage their network including location and specific information they will share. (8 min)
Conclusion/ Discussion: The round table will finish with an opportunity for participants that wish to do so to add others from the session to their network. (2 min)
