Rise with me: Upstander Training to Improve Uncomfortable Learning Environments

Objective: Learning situations that may be perceived as normal to the supervising residents/attendings could be very uncomfortable for students, yet student discomfort and mistreatment are often brought to the attention of the clerkship director or supervising physician only at the end of a rotation.  In this session, we will provide guidance to include gender related team inclusivity, avoiding stereotype and bias in assessment, and will use strategies from upstander training as a framework for creating a more positive learning environment by interrupting uncomfortable learning situations.
