Meeting the Challenge of Reapplying into OBGYN: The Reapplicant’s Perspective

Objective/ Background: Over the last decade, increasing numbers of US MD seniors have not matched in OB/GYN: at least 10% every year since 2013, and >15% since 2019.  Reapplicants need extra support as they can feel isolated and overwhelmed when applying and interviewing. Applicants and advisors need more guidance on how to support applicants who are reapplying into OBGYN.

Methods: Interactive workshop and panel discussion

Results: Participants will gain awareness of challenges particular to reapplying to OB/GYN residency and will discuss strategies for supporting reapplicants.

Conclusion/ Discussion: Reapplicants in OB/GYN can benefit from increased, more structured support from their medical schools.
