Breaking the Burn: Implementing a Wellness Program on a Shoestring Budget

Round Table Text:
This roundtable will provide participants with the resources to create and implement a wellness
program for under fifty dollars. Following implementation of a Mindfulness Based Stress
Reduction Wellness Program, student, resident and faculty feedback highlighted that sessions
needed to be shorter, more frequent, and that MBSR was too narrow of a scope to engage all
learners. We have since successfully implemented weekly 15 minute wellness sessions that
appeal to all learners by rotating through five broad principles to achieve wellness:
1)Mindfulness and Meditation, 2)Physical Health and Fitness, 3)Creativity, 4)Reflection, and
5)Altruism.
